European optics grows of 7% in 2015

Just a month after the conclusion of Mido, GfK's Optics panel which deals with the trending analysis of sunglasses, frames, opthalmic lenses, contact lenses and eye solutions, reported a 7% growth of the optics market in the main European countries with a 17-billion-euro total revenue. The positive trend was registered in all of the countries surveyed: Italy ended the year+4,1%, a similar result was found in France (+3,8%), while Spain and Germany had records that were even over 10% (+10,5% e +11,1% respectively).
In particular, the contact lens department marked an increase of 2.3% and the trend resulted positive as well for frames with a + 6.5%, ophthalmic lenses with a + 7.8% and, after the last few years negative, the sunglasses industry turned positive, rising from -3.6% in 2014 to 7% in 2015.
